Chamelaucium uncinatum 'Dowell'

ORIGIN: Chamelaucium 'Dowell' is a form of Chamelaucium uncinatum selected and named by the late George Wilson, a part owner of Wilson and Johns Nursery at Cannington in Perth, in honour of the late Oliver Dowell. Mr.Dowell was grounds curator at the University of Western Australia. Cultivar received by the Authority on the 9th of September 1977. The applicant was Mr. George Lullfitz of Wanneroo, Western Australia.

DESCRIPTION: This cultivar grows vigorously and at maturity attains a height of 2m with an equal spread. The flowers are large with full petals and measure ± 20mm across. The petals are light purple in colour and recurve backwards as the flower ages. The staminal collar in this variety is also large.

DIAGNOSIS: This cultivar is distinguished by the flower colour.
