Dovey, Leonard George   (1870 - 1937)

Born in 1870 ?; died in 1937 in ?Queensland.

Little is known of this man.

From Danish ancestry records it seems likely that he married Giovanna "Johanna" Dovey (née Pagliano) (1888-1951). On his death in 1937 it appears she married his brother, Harry Dovey.

He seems to have had three blocks of land in Miriam Vale shire, in the Rosedale area of Queensland, 230 acres + 318 acres + 88 acres.

The Queensland Herbarium holds documents concerning his collecting between 1929 and 1937: 17 field notebooks 1930-37 plus 4 diaries, December 1929 - August 1937 of botanical collecting trips in the Rosedale area including notes on climate, geology and entomology; together with 2 indexes to the diaries and 1 small notebook with plant lists and notes. (these have not been referenced)

Note: contrary to some references, he does not seem to have been employed by the Queensland Herbarium.
