Rosaceae

Family Description

A family of about 100 genera and 3000 species, cosmopolitan but more common in temperate regions, particularly in the northern hemisphere; six genera occur naturally in Australia.

Genera

Prunus - A genus of about 400 species, cosmopolitan; two species occur naturally in Australia. Kalkman (1965, 1993).

Rubus - A genus of hundreds of species (according to most authors) cosmopolitan; about seven to eight species occur naturally in Australia and several species have become naturalised. Bean (1997a, 1997b); Evans et al. (2007); Harden et al. (2014); Kalkman (2004); Royen (1969).
